RESPONSIBILITIES
You now have the opportunity to become part of our team as a Patient Safety Developer and contribute to safe and secure care.
As a Patient Safety Developer, you are part of the statutory investigation and reporting process in healthcare. We are obligated to investigate and report incidents that have resulted in serious patient injury or where there was a risk of such injury.
The main responsibilities include handling investigations regarding patient deviations, healthcare injuries, and complaints. The handling involves managing, coordinating, communicating, and monitoring that requested documents are received in investigation cases. The Chief Physician makes decisions on investigations and is responsible for the administration's reporting obligation according to Lex Maria. In the handling process, you work both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues and the Chief Physician. The case handler role also involves close contact with the hospital's operational areas and our supervisory authority, the Swedish Inspectorate of Care and Support (IVO).
In your role, you plan and participate together with the Chief Physician in patient safety dialogues with the operations and lead, together with other colleagues, a network for patient safety coordinators and corresponding responsible persons within the operations' patient safety work.
The unit plans and conducts training for operational managers and other key persons in various parts of systematic patient safety work, as well as performing risk and incident analyses. Risk analyses are usually conducted during changes to assess potential patient safety risks that may lead to deficiencies in the quality of operations. Incident analyses may take place during the investigation of serious deviations, patient cases, and complaints. Depending on experience and background knowledge, you may also participate in this work.
The location is Malmö, but since you work across the entire hospital, there will also be considerable travel to Lund.
The position is a fixed-term appointment (acting role) for approximately 12 months, with a possible extension.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who have a university education related to healthcare and currently work as, for example, a nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, medical secretary, or similar profession within healthcare. For licensed healthcare professions, language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages are required. You preferably have a few years of experience from inpatient care. Furthermore, we desire that you have administrative experience and an interest in case handling and deviation/case management. It is meritorious if you have previous experience or knowledge of patient safety work and the current laws and regulations of healthcare regarding patient safety, healthcare injuries, and complaints.
Since most of the work is digital, you need to have very good computer skills. In the role of case handler, you need to be good at communicating.
You have an easy time building relationships, both internally within the organization's different operations and externally. Since you will also meet patients and relatives via phone, letter, or personal meetings in your role, it is very important that you have a very good attitude and empathetic ability.
As a Patient Safety Developer, you handle many parallel cases and tasks simultaneously. Therefore, you need to be able to structure, prioritize, and plan your work well. Considering constant change work, you also need to be flexible and innovative. Furthermore, you are a person who can handle confidentiality and act with high integrity, and you have an easy time working both in a team and independently. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
